Excerpt-

“Okay, okay, I get it,” she said, throwing her hands up. “I’ll behave. Let’s just get it over with already.”
With a sigh, he opened the library door and motioned her through. Candace clutched at her book, hoping she wasn’t making a horrible mistake in this compromise. Gabe passed her up, making a beeline for the information desk on the right side of the room. What she saw surprised her. When she thought of librarians, she generally thought of old Mrs. DeGroot perched behind her desk. The woman judged every book Candace checked out as though she were some sort of degenerate in need of Sunday school and a good paddling. If the person sitting behind the desk in the Orange City library had been anything like Adrian, she probably would’ve spent a hell of a lot more time studying there.
He wasn’t a big guy by any stretch, but solid, with dark hair falling across his forehead as he bent over a book. She almost giggled when she saw him smile as he read, clearly lost in a good story.
“Yo, Adrian!” Gabe said, effectively startling the librarian out of his reverie. Candace frowned at her cousin as she stopped at his side, but he ignored her.
“Hey, Gabe,” Adrian said, glancing at Candace curiously. “Awfully late for you to be in here. You get put on research punishment again?”
“Ha ha. Nope. We need the copy machine.”
Adrian cracked a smile, glancing at Candace again. She fought back a blush. He was, admittedly, pretty damned adorable.
“We?”
Gabe slung an arm around her shoulders, earning him another foul look. “Me and my cousin.”
“My cousin and I,” she corrected.
“Quit trying to impress the librarian, Candy Cane,” he shot back. Mortified, she couldn’t fight off the red in her face this time. “So, can we use it?”
“You realize that I’m supposed to lock up in twenty minutes,” Adrian said, blessedly granting her a reprieve.
Gabe looked at her. “Whatcha think? Can we do the whole book in twenty minutes?”
She studied the tome in her hands. “You expect me to photocopy a rare book start to finish in under twenty minutes? You are insane. Maybe the first chapter. Now that I know where this place is, I can always come back.”
Gabe looked beyond smug at that. “Uh huh.”
“Don’t,” she growled.
“What book?” Adrian said as he rummaged through a drawer.
She grumbled as she ran her fingers over the pastel pink cover. “The Morania Chronicles, book four. I need to photocopy pages because no way am I giving that book-abuser my copy so he’ll return the third one.”
At this, his head jerked up and he gaped at her. “You have book four?”
She beamed. “I do.”
“Wow,” Adrian said. “I’ve been trying to get Jackson to return his book for six months so I could read it. You planning to use yours as leverage?”
“Six months?” she said, dumbfounded.
He nodded. “I think he’s been holding on to it just to spite me.”
Oh yes. She definitely liked this guy. “Then, yeah. I’m definitely considering it leverage.”
Adrian grinned and led them through two aisles of books, to a room at the back. “What’s your plan of attack?” he said, swiping his card.
Candace shrugged. “I’ll give him the first chapter or so. When he returns the book, I’ll give him more. If he’s nice enough, I’ll give him the rest. Eventually.”
Adrian chuckled. “That’s harsh. Especially for Jackson. I don’t think that guy’s ever been nice to anyone a day in his life.”
Candace frowned a little. While Jackson was definitely a jerk, people weren’t as cut and dry as that. As much as she hated to, she found herself giving the guy a little leeway. No one was born a complete asshole; there was always a reason they were the way they were.
As Adrian turned on the copier, Gabe nudged her forward, at which she glared at him. “Oh, I don’t think I’ve made proper introductions here,” he said. “Adrian Hendricks, this little ball of delightful female vengeance is my cousin, Candace Bristol. Candace, this is Adrian. You still on to start the program next week, man?”
“Sure am,” Adrian said, filling up a paper tray. “I guess we’ll be cohorts then, Candace.”
She swallowed, suddenly anxious. “Yeah, I guess so. You looking forward to it?”
“Absolutely.” He stood up and presented the copier to her. “All yours. What about you? Nervous?”
Candace squeaked as Gabe nudged her again. She spun on him and hissed. “Would you knock that off? Jesus, Gabe.”
“I didn’t do a thing.” He lifted his hands, trying to look innocent.
“Whatever.” She stood in front of the copier and lifted the lid, then placed the book with the front cover face down. “I wouldn’t say nervous, no,” she said as she closed it and hit the start button. “I’ve been working towards this since I heard the news about the program. Gabe too, but he got lucky by being a year older than me.”
“I’d say lucky is a pretty good descriptor for him,” Adrian said with a chuckle. “From what I’ve seen, he skates by on that and a strategically placed smile.”
Looking over her shoulder, she grinned at her cousin. “The game’s up, cuz. He knows all your tricks already.”
The PA system blared to life. “ANGEL Team Pavo, assemble for duty! Shuttle departure in T-minus five minutes!”
“That’s me, kiddos,” Gabe rubbed his hands together. “Time to go bash some heads in.”
Before she knew it, he was gone. It was almost as if he planned the whole thing. Welcome to Awkwardsville, population: Candace. What in the hell was she supposed to do now?
“Pavo, the Peacock,” Adrian said, smiling to himself. “Pretty fitting for that one.”
She snickered. “Totally.”
“Well, I’m going to start shutting down out there, if you don’t mind,” he said. “If you have any trouble with the machine, let me know. It’s kind of old and no one really uses it, so it hiccups every now and then.” He moved towards the door, and while she wanted to stop him, she had no desire to live in this weirdness any longer than she had to. “It was nice to meet you, Candace.” He smiled and left.
Alone with the noisy machine, Candace turned and set to work. Whether or not she liked Adrian changed little for her. She was determined not to get involved with anyone here. Gabe was going to be totally wrong. Maybe then he could wipe that look off his face.

Here & Trapped by Ella James

Here
Milo Mitchell's life used to be charmed, but that was before her father died, she went a little crazy, and her best friends started acting more like strangers. One Saturday morning as she roams the land around her family's Colorado wind farm, tagging deer for a project that used to be her father's, Milo makes a big mistake: a dart from her stun-gun takes down a teenage guy.
Dressed in a Brinoi tux and armed with a perfectly starched handkerchief, the guy looks like a young James Bond - or some country's missing, playboy prince. Trouble is, he could be either. Mr. Mystery has no idea who or where he is. Afraid her dart caused his amnesia, Milo takes him in, names him Nick, and tries to get used to a hot guy sharing her bedroom.
But Milo's Nick is more than he appears. Soon the pair find his face in a newspaper obituary, and Nick beings to have memories of Milo - who is sure she's never met him. If 'Nick' survived a plunge off a steep cliffside on his way to a family camping trip, why did Milo find him dozens of miles away, wearing a freshly pressed tuxedo?  If he's just a high-school athlete, why does he have moves like Jason Bourne? And why does he feel more for her than his surviving family?
When a train of black SUVs shows up on Mitchell property, Nick and Milo run - toward a shocking conclusion that could destroy both their worlds.
Teaser
I shouldn’t have come to Milo’s house, but I was riding for my life, and when I thought about it ending, all I’d wanted—literally the only thing I thought about—was her.
It was startling, the clarity, the sense of purpose, because shortly after I saw Milo’s concert, I got mind-jacked. I didn’t know by what, but the presence had a serious hard-on for calculus and physics, other things I shouldn’t know or care about. I had a freaky suspicion that it was the Real Me, and that the Real Me was some kind of wizard/astrophysicist.
I spent two days in my bed after it happened, hung over on numbers, figures, but by the third day I could handle it. And my superpower had come back, stronger.
I knew intuitively how to control the van, how many meters away the Harley was when I landed, how to start it, how to drive it.
I ran for it as the van spun, tires screeching as it turned to come back for me. It had been modified, was faster than the bike, but I knew the town grid completely, and I’d clogged their fuel injector, which meant that ten minutes after our little chase started, I had lost them.
I doubled back, took an indirect path to get to Milo’s house. I didn’t want to leave an easy trail. When I pulled up and they were nowhere to be seen, I thought I had evaded them, told myself I had gotten away. But it wasn’t until I saw Milo that I realized what I’d done. I should have added to my lead, driven far away, stolen another bike, a car, hopped a train, gone anywhere but were I was. Where she was.
And what did I get for my utter stupidity?
Milo, wide-eyed and concerned. Milo, rubbing my back, tapping my knee. Milo heedless of the danger. Milo, achingly close.
She was leaning over me now, blowing on the scrape she’d just cleaned. “That feel any better?”
I nodded, my nose and forehead digging into her blankets.
“Good.” I felt her hand trail up my spine, then lift away and land atop my hair.
“You can go to sleep, you know. I’ll keep watch, just in case.”
I shook my head, dizzy from the pill and her soft hand. “I need to…leave…”

Trapped ( Here #2)  Releases on March 19, 2014
When Milo Mitchell falls for the beautiful, tuxedo-clad guy she found wandering her family’s rural Colorado property, she never dreamed he was a scout from another galaxy, or that their relationship would leave him with an impossible choice: eradicating humankind, or initiating the end of his own people.
Nick’s job is finding the elements his people need to power their elaborate interweb of minds. Being a scout means he is capable of traveling to other planets on his own. It also means that, unlike The Rest, he has access to primitive feelings and individual desires. For eons, he was part of the whole, but when he encountered Milo, his obsession with her changed everything.
Nick’s partner, Vera, is capable of independent thought, but not compelled by it. She is satisfied with her existence as one of The Rest, and she won’t agree that humans are worth sparing; not when their planet has a precious cache of the gold her people need so badly.
While Vera tries to force Nick into endorsing an Earth invasion, working behind the scenes to tie his hands, and the Department of Defense lays a trap for them with Milo’s mom as bait, Nick and Milo are waging their own war – against a primal desire that can only lead to one thing: heartbreak.

THE DEVIL YOU KNOW by Victoria Vane
The Devil DeVere Series- Library Journal Best E-Book Romance 2012
Sometimes the Devil is Disguised as a Gentleman... In this third installment of the award-winning Devil DeVere series, DeVere is finally center stage when Ned, Annalee, and her cousin, Diana arrive at DeVere’s estate for a weekend of horseracing. From the first meeting, DeVere makes his interest in Diana acutely known. Although she sees no harm in a light flirtation, she doesn’t intend to become another notch on his bedpost. Nevertheless, DeVere fascinates her. Ned gave her a meaningful look. "I hope you'll take extreme care in any dealings with him. He is ruthless and calculating when he chooses to be and has a strong predilection to manipulate and exploit the vulnerabilities of others—when it suits his purpose. He just can't help himself. It's not that he's evil incarnate, or anything like that; it's just that he has low tolerance for weakness, incompetence, or buffoonery." Diana lifted her brow. "You know I am no fool, dear Edward. I take full responsibility for my actions and have already made clear what I am willing and not willing to sacrifice."   Although DeVere is outwardly arrogant, ruthless, unpredictable, and manipulative, the private man is quite another creature—intensely loyal and fiercely protective of those few he cares about. Diana also maintains a false front to the world. Her twelve year marriage is a mockery and she feels unfulfilled and undesirable which makes her all too vulnerable to DeVere’s dangerous charm. After events take an unexpected turn, Diana' most erotic fantasies become reality when she seeks comfort and affirmation in the devil's arms. But little does she know that the fire he ignites within her will burn long after she leaves Woodcote Park.

THE DEVIL'S MATCH by Victoria Vane
The Devil DeVere Series- Library Journal Best E-Book Romance 2012
The devil is a tempter of women
In this fourth installment of the award-winning Devil DeVere series, Diana has come to London as her goddaughter's chaperone. Wanting to avoid her erstwhile lover at all costs, she nevertheless has no choice but to appeal to DeVere for help when Vesta mysteriously disappears. Although once nearly consumed by her passion for DeVere, four years has reduced the former inferno to bitterness and ashes. Ludovic's time abroad has only served to deepen his debauchery. He's become jaded, world-weary, and bored. He also recognizes with self-annoyance that the marks of his discontent have only increased upon a certain person's arrival in London. When Diana makes her appearance in his den of iniquity in all of her glorious self-righteous fury, he suddenly feels alive again. "Damn you to hell, DeVere!" she cried, jerking out of his hold. "Yes, I want you now, but I would despise myself for it the moment we finished." "Why?" he asked, confounded. "Why? Because I once confused passion for deeper feeling. I won't make that mistake again." "But don't you remember how it was between us? I can bring you rapture. You know that. What harm is there?" She scoffed, "Surely the same words the serpent whispered to Eve." While DeVere is once more hell-bent to have Diana back in his bed, she will do whatever it takes to bring him to his knees.

A DEVIL'S TOUCH by Victoria Vane
The Devil DeVere Series- Library Journal Best E-Book Romance 2012
This short erotic installment in the award-winning Devil DeVere series can stand alone as a complete story, but also serves to bridge The Devil's Match and Jewel of the East (Salime and Simon's story). In her last month of pregnancy, Diana, Viscountess DeVere, has barely settled into her new life and role as "the devil" DeVere's wife, when her increasingly restless husband receives an urgent summons to London. When Diana inadvertently discovers a message he received from a known courtesan with whom he was formerly linked, she fears her marriage is over before it has begun. They were barely three months into a marriage that had begun on rather shaky ground. Was it possible that for him, the novelty of it had already worn off? This had always been Diana's greatest fear, for Ludovic was a man with a voracious sensual appetite, one he had honed with years of endless variety and constant, unrestrained indulgence. Diana, on the contrary, had known only one true lover—this same perplexing man who was now her husband—the one who had made her heavy with his child…and now left her alone in a cold bed.

DEVIL IN THE MAKING by Victoria Vane
The Devil DeVere Series- Library Journal Best E-Book Romance 2012
Every Devil Has A Beginning...
In this first of three prequels to the award-winning Devil DeVere series, we meet Ludovic, Ned, and Simon as youths in this riotous Georgian romp written in the tradition of Fielding's Tom Jones. Since their first meeting at Westminster, Ned, Simon, and DeVere had forged an iron-clad bond that had maintained them through nearly six years. From the outset, Ludovic's scandalous family secrets had set him apart from the other aristocratic scions as an "untouchable." Deny it as he tried, the ugly truth remained that his mother was indeed the biggest whore in England, and his presumed father, the viscount, no less than a pox-ridden madman. Likewise, Simon Singleton's poetic proclivities had instantly made him the bullies' mark, and even Edward Chambers' great size had served as little deterrent for the upper classmen's taunts when accompanied by adolescent awkwardness and a broad North Country drawl. By the end of the first form, however, DeVere's finely honed shell of arrogance, Ned's increasing brawn, and Sin's rapier wit, had given birth to an unholy triumvirate that came to wreak perpetual and unchallenged havoc upon Westminster School. Now, it appeared their illustrious reign had come to an inglorious end. Intent on serving up revenge on their tyrannical schoolmaster, a prank with the king's lion goes comically awry, leading to a startling chain of events.

THE TROUBLE WITH SIN by Victoria Vane
The Devil DeVere Series- Library Journal Best E-Book Romance 2012
This second prequel to the award-winning Devil DeVere series is a comedic romp featuring aspiring poet, Simon "Sin" Singleton, the hero of Jewel of the East. The Trouble with Sin … Is the devil within… Sin has lived only for larks, laughter, and ladies of easy virtue, eluding defying, and flouting all manner of authority until his impetuous misdeeds finally catch up with him. The wage of Sin… is twenty-five percent of the net! It seems a fantasy come true when Simon is offered an independent income by combining his two great passions— poetry and lewd women. Unfortunately, maintaining anonymity may be much harder than he thought… Ned asked, "Are you not still bound for the clergy, Sin?" Simon heaved a deep sigh. "It is my dear Mama's fondest wish for me to join the church, but I fear my nature is quite incompatible with a theological vocation. I have searched deeply, and cannot seem to summon an inkling of pious sentiment, which makes me an exceedingly poor candidate for the clergy." "Even so, why would you wish to dirty your hands with something like this?" "The answer is simple, Ned—I need the money." "But you receive a more than adequate allowance." "That he mostly squanders on women of easy virtue," DeVere drawled. "Admittedly," Simon confessed, unabashed. "But now my father has reduced my quarterly and demands a full account of every ha'penny. I tell you, it is humiliating in the extreme! Unless I wish to live under such a yoke for the next three years— which I positively do not— I must make my own living. If I must travail for my bread, how better than by the fruits of my pen?" "So you seek to combine your love of poetry and lewd women by writing poetry about lewd women?" Ned replied dryly. Simon clapped Ned on the back. "Precisely! Don't you see the ironic beauty of it?" "What do you suppose will happen when your dear, devout mama gets wind of this?" Ned asked. "I have taken every precaution to ensure my anonymity." Simon retrieved the book from DeVere. "My contribution to this little work is, and shall forever remain, a well-kept secret."

Jewel of the East (The Devil DeVere #5)

Book # 5 in the award-winning Devil DeVere series. May be read as a standalone Maimed by misfortune… healed by love… His wounds run deep… Having once lived his life only for larks, laughter, and ladies of easy virtue, Captain Simon Singleton has returned from war a shambles of a man. Although free from six years of captivity, he's still fettered by fears that confine him to a life of seclusion. Her scars are well-hidden… Once the crowning jewel of the most lavish brothel in London, the exotic Salime finds her reputation and livelihood destroyed by a bitter rival. With a closely guarded secret stripped away, she fears no man will ever desire her again. Seeking aid from one who once saved her life, she accepts a proposition to become a companion to his war-scarred friend. But love is the eternal cure… When circumstance brings these two damaged souls together, fate ignites a love story worthy of the Arabian Nights. (mature content warning).   EXCERPT DeVere House, Bloomsbury- 1784 He finally arrived after what seemed like hours. She rushed to him, kneeling and kissing his hand. "Efendi! You have come at last!" "But of course," he replied, raising her to her feet. "You must know I would never deny you my aid, Salime." "But I feared with your marriage… that Khanum …" noting his look of discomfort at the mention of his wife, she sank her teeth into her lower lip. "As I do not have a complete understanding of it myself, I have yet to explain your situation to Diana," he said, "But I am certain she would not have me turn my back on you." He took her gently by the elbow. "Come Salime. We will retire to share the hookah. Then you will tell me what is troubling you… and how I might assist." For a close to an hour in chambers much resembling her own in décor, Salime sat contentedly cross-legged at his feet, tending the pipe while he reclined on a divan, smoking and slowly drawing the story from her— the tale of her second great humiliation at the hand of a bitter rival. "In the end, you will see it is for the best, my dear," he said, blowing purple-cast smoke rings into the air. "You deserve much better than to be a mere plaything rich and idle men." "But it is what I was trained for, Efendi, to serve a man's pleasure. It is all I know, and I am not ashamed in this. Where I come from, such skills are not only a woman's sole means to achieve a measure of comfort, but to please the sultan and to be raised to the place of favorite mistress or haseki is the greatest of honors—only exceeded by becoming a kadin." "Kadin? You mean a wife?" "One of four wives," she corrected. "In my country, to serve the sultan, whether as mistress or wife, is to ensure a lifetime of ease and security, but the English ways are different. Here a mistress has no security and is as readily cast aside as a worn slipper." "I wish I could argue the truth of it, but even a shoe can be re-soled before it's cast aside." "Such is true if one has a protector to pay the debt to the cobbler. I did not." "What will you do now?" he asked. "I do not yet know, Efendi." She gazed up at him longingly, almost afraid to voice the question that burned in her heart. "I had hoped…" He shook his head and she felt a crushing weight in her chest. He stroked her cheek as if endeavoring to lessen the blow. "I'm sorry, my dear. The English ways are different in regard to mistresses and wives." She arched a brow. "Not so very different, Efendi. Why else would such as King's Place. Exist?" "Point taken," he said with a tight smile. "What I meant is that not all wives accept a man's philandering ways. There are some who expect, nay, demand, exclusivity…fidelity." "Khanum, the fiery one, she is such a wife?" "Aye, Salime. And I have sworn my lasting fidelity. I would not break my vow to her even if I wanted to—which I do not. My desire is only for Diana." He took another long draw on the hookah. "She is the most fortunate of women, Efendi, to merit such devotion." "My so-called devotion is perhaps a two-edged sword," he chuckled, but then grew sober at her frown. "Given a choice, Salime, would you not also prefer only one man?" "You know that choice was taken from me, Efendi," she said sadly. "No man would willingly look daily upon this face." She traced the scar she kept hidden from the world. "Even you who I thought…" He scowled. "Your scar has nothing to do with my decision to forego a mistress, Salime. I think you already know that. Surely there is a man who can see the true jewel that you are—" "There is none!" she cried. "Only a woman has eyes to see the beauty beneath the skin." His lips twisted. He handed her the stem. "You think all men are so shallow?" She returned a sad smile and then drew again from the pipe. For a long moment he stared up in silence, seemingly transfixed on the colorful silk draped canopy above them. Then his lips curved at the corners. "What if there was such a man, Salime? One capable of perceiving the greater beauty within?" She snorted. "What if camels could fly?" His gaze narrowed. "Salime, I would ask a boon of you." "You know I would do anything for you, Efendi," she replied. His smile said he was pleased. The knowledge warmed her. "Thank you, my dear. But perhaps you would hear me out first?" "As you wish." "I have a friend, a very dear friend, with a grave dilemma. It is an affliction which requires a unique kind of healing." "He is in need of a physician?" "No. The quacks can do nothing for him. Although he physically suffers, it is not truly a physical ailment." "You mean he is touched in the head?" "No." he paused as if struggling to explain what he himself did not fully comprehend. "He may believe himself so, for he experienced a great deal of torment that lasted a number of years, but, I don't think it's as bad as all that. " "I am no healer. I do not understand what you would ask of me." "I only wish for you to be his companion, Salime. He is in great want of one who understands a man's deepest needs. I am of the belief that you alone could relieve his distress." "Me? You have such confidence, Efendi?" "I have every confidence in you, my dear. Simon means a great deal to me. Should you accept this proposition, I would be exceedingly pleased. Moreover, I would provide you most generous compensation." "It is not for the money that I accept," Salime said. "It is for you, Efendi. You have asked this of me, so how can I refuse?" He returned a soft smile. "I pray, Salime, that one day you meet a man who will prove himself worthy of such devotion."

EDITORIAL QUOTES
THE DEVIL DEVERE SERIES - LIBRARY JOURNAL BEST E-BOOK ROMANCE 2012 "The “Devil DeVere” series is a variation on the rake’s progress, or the rake’s reformation, except that is doesn’t start with said rake as the main character—a device that is amazingly clever on Vane’s part and allows her to circle in on DeVere without revealing too much at the outset… The series is erotic and sexy, and sometimes you want to shake the characters until their teeth rattle, but it is absolutely marvelous... This one should be read with bonbons. She's part of a clandestine government team that defends the nation against supernatural terrorism—a job that understandably leaves her life in shambles and drives her to drink a little more than she should. Toss in a fear of intimacy with a desire to have friends and lovers like a normal person and, well, Anna is a troubled soul wrapped in a special agent with arcane, magical powers. J. Hamlet
: Everyone needs a hobby. I chose writing. Not one of the easier ones. I chose it at the tender age of 14, churning out terrible science fiction novels that heaped on the cliches and barely hidden tropes of all space operas. Thankfully, those creations reside in the prison of an old Commodore 64 hard drive and several 3.5" disks (kids, ask your parents) in a landfill somewhere. And, let me be clear, the world is better for it. Along the way, I kept writing. Through college. Through grad school. Through the beginning of my career, such as it is. I like to believe I picked up skills. I write genre novels that have characters brimming with personal problems, professional problems, and sexuality. Sure, novels that do this exist. I'm not trying to say they don't, I just think too few of them are out there and I intend to do my personal best to increase their numbers.

Cover reveal! Destruction by Sharon Bayliss

Author Sharon Bayliss is thrilled to share the cover for Destruction (Book One of The December People Series), a family drama about dark wizards living in Houston.

Message from Sharon Bayliss:

"The butterfly will show up on the cover of all four books in the series, as a symbol of redemption, hope, and re-birth. Despite the dark themes in the series, I believe that the most important themes of the series are hopeful ones, such as love, family, and triumph against adversity, which is why the butterfly is in the center.

The broken glass surrounding the butterfly rather obviously symbolizes the concept of destruction, which is also a central theme. The title Destruction refers to the fact that dark magic is inherently destructive, but also refers to how a person can be destroyed, in body or soul.

One thing I was sure of, I wanted the word, Destruction, to be in "pretty" letters. I loved the contrast of having a dark and violent word look beautiful. This also fits the theme, as I wish to show the beauty in darkness and destruction, and the good in people who are supposed to be evil."

Here is the blurb for Destruction, coming out 4/14/14:

David Vandergraff wants to be a good man. He goes to church every Sunday, keeps his lawn trim and green, and loves his wife and kids more than anything. Unfortunately, being a dark wizard isn't a choice.

Eleven years ago, David's secret second family went missing. When his two lost children are finally found, he learns they suffered years of unthinkable abuse. Ready to make things right, David brings the kids home even though it could mean losing the wife he can’t imagine living without.

Keeping his life together becomes harder when the new children claim to be dark wizards. David believes they use this fantasy to cope with their trauma. Until, David's wife admits a secret of her own—she is a dark wizard too, as is David, and all of their children.

Now, David must parent two hurting children from a dark world he doesn’t understand and keep his family from falling apart. All while dealing with the realization that everyone he loves, including himself, may be evil.

PT's Review of Laurence and the Riders by Sloan Archer

After witnessing a murder, college student Laurence Clarke is forced into working for a gang of outlaw bikers hiding a centuries-old secret, and in the process becomes helplessly captivated by the one girl he’s forbidden to love. Tempted by the money and respect an affiliation with the supernatural Paxios provides, Laurence soon strays to the dark side. But will he be lost forever?

Laurence and the riders starts out strong with the conclusion at the beginning and everything leading up to it in the chapters that follow. From the very first page we know that Laurence has been changed, but changed into what is the real question. I made the assumption that this was a vampire novel and was surprised to learn that things are not always what they seem.
Laurence and the riders is told from Laurence's  pov. He discovers that humans are not all that roam the earth. By being in the wrong place at the wrong time he learns of Paxios. The incident that he witnesses leads him to working at the Enders club house that is lead by Boone who is also the father of Jolene, the love of Laurence's life.
From the very first page I was drawn in, but the next few chapters were slow going. I kept picking the book up just to put it back down a few pages later. But about halfway through the story picked up and then I couldn't put it down. I'm glad I pushed my way through because I ended up really enjoying this book! What I thought was a just another vampire book turned into something much more. This book had it all, action, suspense, romance all wrapped up in a sexy paranormal story . 4 stars for Laurence and the Riders!

Sloan Archer resides in Los Angeles. She has been penning fiction since childhood; her first works were
dark short stories inspired by howling coyotes on her family's farm, penned at the ripe age of nine. When Sloan isn't writing horror, sci-fi, and paranormal novels, she enjoys travel, painting, and live music.
