from 1892 England, she’s in a small library in 2017. And that's
just the start of their troubles.
Emme never meant to stay in Maine. She'd come only to find a librarian for her Gram's library, a custodian for the collection of mysterious books she'd promised to protect. On a dark, wintery night, alone in the library, she takes her first glance into one of the antique novels and finds herself transported to 1892 England staring into the eyes of handsome and dashing hero Jack Ridgewell. As each chapter passes she learns you can truly fall in love with a character in a book, that book boyfriends are real and Emme must choose between the real world, and his.
When the last page is read he's gone and Emme feels the cold loneliness of lost love. Will she find Jack again, or will their love be forever lost? The answer lies within the pages…

My Review:
Have you ever wanted to travel through time? I have and there are many places and times I would like to experience. Emme Bailey discovers a family secret. The women in her family have been tasked with going back in time to witness historical events to make sure they have been recorded accurately. She is there to observe, so she didn’t expect to fall in love with Jack. So how can Emme find happiness with her historical man and not affect his future?
I loved Emme. She recognized her own character flaws and ended up working to fix them. She admitted when she was wrong about something. She was strong and genuine. And when faced with a very weird situation she didn’t fall to pieces. When the story started she was a bit of a party girl flake, but her character grew as the story developed and she made me proud. The supporting characters were amazing too. Rose , Beth and Tarryn were great friends to Emme and all of them had a hand in guiding her to the right path.
I enjoyed this story a lot! To be honest I have been looking forward to this story since Christy announced her idea for it on facebook. The idea for this one was fascinating and the story lived up to my expectations! I adore Christy’s books and I look forward to reading anything she publishes in the future!
Want to hear a little from the amazing characters? Here's a little insight to Emme and Jack.
Jack
- I can't imagine stumbling upon a strange person claiming to be from
another time. How did you feel when you realized that Emme really was
from the future?
To
be quite honest, I was shocked. It was not easy believing her story at
first, but the girl was telling the truth. At first, I thought she was a
phantom; a beautiful one at that. Her story matched with Nancy's and I
knew she was really from another time.
Emme
- Your first travel experience must have been confusing. Describe what
went through your head when you found out you were in the past.
*Laughs*
Confusing is one way to put it. I thought I was dreaming. I mean we all
have crazy dreams from time to time, right? The place was beautiful and
the hills were so green. I knew that it wasn't Maine almost instantly.
Once I found out the truth and that it wasn't a dream, I wanted nothing
more than to just go home. That is until I met Jack. His home and time
were so amazing and so was he. Being in his time period was an
experience I'll never forget.
Jack
- We know you have a difficult relationship with your father. Can you
tell us a little about your mother? Can you share a favorite memory from
your childhood?
My
dearest mother loves to entertain. She hosts many balls and dinners for
prestigious and wealthy folk in our small village. She also loves to
raise money for the less fortunate. If she isn't busy hosting a party or
banquet you can usually find her riding her horse. She was raised with
horses, you know, and always had them. I was not one for the sport. My
mother is patient and kind, much like I try to be.
Emme
- We know you lost your parents young and were raised by your Gram. Is
there anything that you did together to make your own special memories?
We
liked to collect seashells on the beach. She would keep them in tiny
jars and line the windowsills with them. Gram was a tough woman but when
we were on the beach it was like she opened up and the softness in her
came out once again. I think it was because my grandfather died at sea.
She felt connected to him again.
Jack - If it had been you traveling to the future, what do you think you might want to see?
I'd
love see Emmeline's library. To see her in her environment, working
with others and being her jolly self. I'd also enjoy seeing how Maine
transformed and how England changed.
Emme - Seeing London in the late 1800s must have been amazing! To which other places and times do you want to travel?
I
can't say that I'd want to travel again, but if I did, I'd like to see
the renaissance era. I would love to see the castles in Scotland and
Ireland the most.
Jack - What is your wish for the future?
That Emmeline finds happiness wherever she goes. That someone loves her truly as deeply as I once have.
Emme
- I can think of so many books that I would like to visit! How exciting
it would be to peek in on Elizabeth Bennet as she gives Mr. Darcy a
piece of her mind. Or to get a look at my favorite Gryphon
shifter...What fiction books would you like to visit?
I
do love the classics myself. Romeo and Juliet, Gone with the Wind, and
The Great Gatsby to name a few. But you must understand, when I travel
through fiction novels, I'm immersed within the book, but I cannot
interact with the characters. I get to watch the novel unfold before me.
It's amazing, really.
Aren't they adorable? If you want to get to know them better you will have to get your copy of The Librarian!
