Elemental: The First by Alexandra May

Just who is Halika Dacome?
To Rose Frost, moving every six months is normal. Another new town here, another new school there, her ability to adapt is as easy as breathing. But everything changes when her parents go overseas and Rose moves in with her grandmother. She enjoys meeting new friends and catching up with old ones from her childhood holidays — except now she must hide a precious secret from everyone, a gift from birth that defies modern day science.

Her dreams become riddled with a warrior woman called Halika Dacome, but are they visions or messages from the future? She starts her own investigation but encounters more questions than answers. Living right on the edge of Warminster in Wiltshire, England, doesn’t help with its folklore and myths about strange lights in the sky and ghost stories of the Salisbury Plain and Stonehenge.

Not only that, her troubles really take hold one night when the mysterious Aiden Deverill with his alluring smile, his gorgeous dark looks and hypnotizing blue eyes, saves her from a freak fire. Or did he?

For Rose, her new life is beginning but she soon realizes that despite assurances people are not always what they seem. What she always believed to be a happy family and a friendly town soon turns on its head when she discovers that her family secret, Aiden Deverill and the truth behind Halika Dacome is at the heart of the whole conspiracy.

I give this one 4 stars. I liked the story and it seemed to flow pretty well. It didn't grab my attention in the first few chapters, but I was hooked mid way through. I was eager to see how the story would unfold, but it seemed to do so slowly. It did all come together in the end and it did leave me wondering how long I will have to wait for the next one. This one wasn't a quick read for me, but it was good and well worth my time.

Nexus by CL Parker

Have you read the first two books in this series? If you have, you know that CL is a fantastic writer that has created a world with guardian angels, guardians of the light, witches, demons and a diva extraordinaire. This third book has been available for just a short time and is already raking in the 5 star reviews.

"I simply adore this series, and recommend that everyone read it! The SUPERNOVA SAGA is a unique take on the paranormal and has characters that will become your favorites for years to come." ~ Literal Addiction

"Nexus is a roller coaster filled with so many emotions, but that's the reason I love it so much. I will agree with a couple of my blogging friends, this book is defiantly the best in the series. C.L. Parker took the last book in her series and left with a bang." ~ Ali's bookshelf

In this final installment of the Supernova saga, Kerrigan and Dominic have fulfilled their destinies and are spending their time raising and training their very special daughter Victoria. Tori, with her half guardian of the light and half guardian angel blood, is to be the guardian of mankind. (But no pressure, right?) Good thing she will have help. The guardian of the guardian, will be there to help her defend mankind. And it doesn't hurt that he's smokin' hot! Naturally they are drawn to each other and their attraction deepens the more time they spend together.
What no one knows though is that there is another man that Tori loves. He's been there her whole life, but is he really what he seems? Tori must choose one, and the fate of the world rests on her choice.

I have to say that this was the perfect ending for this series. The story kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was so sure I had it all figured out and then BAM! Nothing was as I thought it would be in the end. If you read the first two books in this saga, I'm sure you will love the way CL ended it with Nexus. I would definitely give it 5 stars!

C.L. Parker is a paranormal romance author who writes smut and knows how to use it. She smokes like a cowboy, drinks Patron Silver like a fish, and cusses like a sailor. In her world, everything truly does happen for a reason.

Release Me a new erotic novel by J. Kenner ~ Review

I know it's not a paranormal novel, but I love this author's other books so much (paranormal, fantasy, mystery, romance) that I just couldn't resist. Release Me hits shelves today! 1-1-13.

Nikki Fairchild has moved to Los Angeles to escape her past. Damien Stark is powerful, rich and devastatingly sexy. Their meeting at an art exhibit ignites a spark that neither can resist, but will both of their dark pasts keep them apart?

If you are looking for a fantastic erotic novel, look no further.  It is HOT! I had no trouble getting lost in this thrilling book. Nikki is the kind of woman to admire. Tough, smart, witty and genuinely likeable.

There are similarities to other popular erotic fiction novels out there, but I feel that the lead character in this story had so much more depth and didn't make me want to reach into the book to bitch slap her.  That fact alone set it apart from the rest and made it so much more enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book tremendously and I am eagerly awaiting the next.

Lani Woodland The Yara Silva trilogy

I am going to review both of these since I just read them back to back! I started with Intrinsical. It had a unique story line that intrigued me and quite honestly the cover is beautiful.

Sixteen-year-old Yara Silva has always known that ghosts walk alongside the living. Her grandma, like the other women in her family, is a Waker, someone who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yara grew up watching her grandmother taunted and scorned for this unusual ability and doesn't want that to be her future. She has been dreading the day when she too would see ghosts, and is relieved that the usually dominant Waker gene seems to have skipped her, letting her live a normal teenage life. However, all that changes for Yara on her first day at her elite boarding school when she discovers the gene was only lying dormant. She witnesses a dark mist attack Brent, a handsome fellow student, and rushes to his rescue. Her act of heroism draws the mist's attention, and the dark spirit begins stalking her. Yara finds herself entrenched in a sixty-year-old curse that haunts the school, threatening not only her life, but the lives of her closest friends as well. Yara soon realizes that the past she was trying to put behind her isn't going to go quietly

I have to admit, that though the story line was interesting, the story itself was a bit slow through the first half and I almost didn't finish this book. I'm glad I kept with it because the ending was amazing and it left me eager to start reading the second book in this Trilogy Indelible.

Yara is beginning to understand just how much her life will change now that her Waker abilities have emerged. She has come to terms with the fact that seeing ghosts is part of her life, but she isn’t ready to let being a Waker dictate her choices. All she wants is a ghost-free senior year with her boyfriend, Brent, and her best friend, Cherie. But Yara soon discovers that there are more dark secrets in her school’s history than just the curse she broke. While an angry ghost makes Yara question everything she thought she knew about spirits, she and Brent learn that there are long reaching consequences to last year’s adventures. As new enemies emerge and old ghosts resurface, Yara finds herself in the center of another deadly mystery, and this time she has to contend with the living as well as the dead.

The second book in this series was fantastic!! It has everything, Great characters, a believable relationship, mystery, and an amazing ending. Lani did it again with Indelible. I can't wait for the third in this series Inevitable due out Fall 2013.

Another new release -Darynda Jones

I love the Charley Davidson series and now Darynda Jones has a new YA series. The first book Death and the Girl Next Door is out today! Darynda is a fantastic author and this one is sure to please.

Synopsis:
Ten years ago, Lorelei's parents disappeared without a trace.  Raised by her grandparents and leaning on the support of her best friends, Lorelei is finally beginning to accept the fact that her parents are never coming home.  For Lorelei, life goes on.
High school is not quite as painful as she thinks it will be, and things are as normal as they can be.  Until the day the school's designated loner, Cameron Lusk, begins to stalk her, turning up where she least expects it,  standing outside her house in the dark, night after night.  Things get even more complicated when a new guy—terrifying, tough, sexy Jared Kovach—comes to school.  Cameron and Jared instantly despise each other and Lorelei seems to be the reason for their animosity.  What does Jared know about her parents?  Why does Cameron tell Jared he can't have Lorelei?  And what will any of them do when Death comes knocking for real?  Thrilling, sassy, sexy, and inventive, Darynda Jones's first foray into the world of teens will leave readers eager for the next installment.

Me? A writer? Nah

Recently I have had more than one person suggest that I try to be a writer. And my first thought was Me? A Writer? I'm a reader, not a writer. But I think about it sometimes and wonder if I really could do it. I mean doesn't it sound like the perfect job for a stay at home mom? Write in the morning before the kids get up. And again at nap time and any spare minute I can find through out the day. It sounds perfect, but right now I don't have many spare moments. I mean you should see my kitchen floor. I can hardly find the time to sweep and mop. And forget about my kids letting me sit and pound out a few thousand words. Ha! Right now I am pushing my two year old off my lap so I can just finish this sentence.
I won't lie. I think I would like to write something, but can I? I guess I'll never know till I try.

The Fabulous Cl Parker!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this author!!  A friend of mine told me about this amazing author, CL Parker. I gobbled up her first book Supernova like a starving woman would devour a chocolate bar. Yes, it was that good! The characters are funny, sexy and real. The world she created in her books is one you can easily get lost in. She's a fantastic writer! I finished the first book and immediately bought the second book Cataclysm. And yes, it was just as fabulous as the first. I am now eagerly awaiting the third book in the saga Nexus. Sept 27th can't get here fast enough!!
Synopsis (as seen on Goodreads): As part of a chosen bloodline, Kerrigan Cruz has inherited a gift: supernatural powers which give her the ability to protect a person's free will from those who wish to alter destiny for their own design. After her grandmother's passing, Kerrigan meets Dominic Grayson, an alluring stranger with a secret of his own. Dominic has been cursed, touched by both darkness and light, and Kerrigan is the only one who can save him. In their world, only three things are certain: His curse. Her gift. Their destiny.
